A Letter from Fern and Elise

Greetings Friends of Odyssey of the Mind!

Who would have believed that Dr. Sam Micklus’ 1978 concept of a creative problem solving program would be alive and still growing today?  That’s right – Odyssey of the Mind is celebrating its 40th year and going strong!

In Maine, we have become the preeminent program of its kind, thanks in large part to the many people who volunteer their time helping Maine Odyssey of the Mind meet its mission of providing students with opportunities to take risks, think in unique ways, and grow in an environment that encourages them to become confident, collaborative individuals.

While the costs of running a tournament, training, and World Finals support have grown, we have tried to keep costs for teams down.  To do that, we need your help.

We hope you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to Maine Odyssey as part of your end-of-year gift giving.  We appreciate all donations, large and small, to help us keep our program strong and vibrant.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS...

"I love Odyssey and I look forward to it every year! Its awesome to be creative with my friends to come up with our solutions and know that we did it together! It makes us really proud"

-Makenna Wheeler, Village Elementary

"Odyssey of the Mind has changed the way I think and has opened me up a completely different way of approaching everything I do. I love the ability to find all the loopholes and come up with a solution that I know no one else has ever thought of. I have been involved in OM for eight years now, I cannot imagine my life without it."

-Avery Arena, Gorham High School
